VisualDMX goes Bowling

Thursday 15. of March 2012

Dutch company Trend LED Lighting BV recently completed an installation of 8 lanes of “LED's go Showbowling” at 't Bourgondisch hof in Waalwijk NL. This is a Party center with Restaurant and Bowling Alley that required a modern, fun and interactive approach to bowling. In partnership with BCE BV, Trend Led have launched the “LED’s go Showbowling” concept, A USBC approved synthetic “white lane” which optimises, not only the technical specifications for bowling, but also the surface colour allows for spectacular lighting effects to be projected.

Ron Velders, owner of Trend LED, selected Visual Productions' VisualDMX software for the lighting control element within this installation of LED's go Showbowling. Trend LED installed 1 universe of VisualDMX with a Duple and GPI unit. The GPI was required to make the “Strike Animation System”. If the bowler scores a strike then there is a contact closure that sets off a special, dynamic lighting sequence, preprogrammed in VisualDMX.

The bowling pins are also lit with LED's and programmed to change colours in combination with and contrast to the lanes colour themes.

Henk and Gjalt Walda, owners of the party center are extremely pleased with the result of the LED's go Showbowling installation stating that “customers are enthusiastic about the new interactive bowling lanes.”

More pictures of the installation can be viewed in our gallery.

CueCore in control at Drents Museum, NL

Monday 12. of March 2012

Dutch supply, hire and installation company Lichtpunt Theatertechniek recently completed a beautiful installation with Visual Productions' CueCore, at the Drents Museum in North East of Netherlands. For a number of years Lichtpunt have provided lighting to the museum, so when Drents Museum approached them for a new project that would evolve around the world famous Yde Girl they were delighted with the opportunity.

Yde Girl died between 54 BC and 128 AD at an approximate age of 16 years and her body was remarkably well preserved in the peat bogs near Yde in the Netherlands. Drents Museum's new Yde Girl drama is an interactive exhibit with sound, lights & projections used to illustrate the story of this girls life all those years ago. The museum needed the installation to run automatically and be low maintenance and energy efficient. The Project Manager from Lichtpunt, Bob van der Klaauw, saw the perfect solution for these demands in the CueCore, solid-state controller from Visual Productions.

With the entire system being show-controlled by AMX this is in turn connected to a KissBox and onto the two CueCores which were used to control 435 LEDs and 8 generic fixtures from Acclaim Lighting. The CueCore is triggered by DMX in sync with the audio and video. The exhibitions striking video footage was filmed and directed by Marcel Hectors.

Sander Bloem was the Lichtpunt technician responsible for the installation.

Bloem speaks highly of the CueCore stating that “I am very excited by the CueCore, it is very good, here I used it for creating Cues and recording.During Programming Bloem further enthused “I am enjoying everything about the CueCore! It is easy to work with, I programmed everything in my GrandMA console and capturing the scenes and recording with the CueCore was very easy....and I can link anything I want to everything so that is very nice!”

Alongside this exhibit the Drents Museum has undergone further renovation with another CueCore controlling 8 generic fixtures and 4 x RGBWA fixtures. This CueCore is controlled by an iPad through OSC and 4 presets running via the GPI off an AMX system.

IOCore at Hall 11.0 A69 Prolight+Sound

Wednesday 07. of March 2012

The new product that we are proud to launch at Prolight+Sound is the IOCore. IOCore is an expansion module in the CueCore product family of solid-state lighting controllers. It offers interfacing to digital and analogue inputs and digital outputs and supports various protocols like DMX, RS-232, OSC, UDP and Art-Net.

The IOCore features 8 inputs that can be individually configured as digital or analogue input. Set as digital input, it allows for an easy connection with, for example, physical switches and sensors. When set to analogue, it supports 0-10V and 1-10V inputs; ideal for connecting to household dimmers.

The 8 outputs on the IOCore are relay-switched and can handle 3 Amp. The digital outputs can be used to switch various other equipment like A/V devices, blinds or heavy-duty relays.

Additionally, the IOCore is fitted with a DMX-512 port that can be configured as input or output, and a bi-directional RS-232 port. Through its network port, the IOCore also supports OSC, UDP and Art-Net protocols that can be used for triggering and conversion.

The compact and versatile IOCore is the ideal expansion unit for the CueCore in projects that demand more IO. Furthermore, IOCore is equally well suited for standalone IO interfacing or working together with any third-party show control system.

Located in Hall 11.0 Stand A69, the same stand as last year, we will also be showing the latest versions of Cuelux and the CueCore, solid-state controller.  The CueCore, now 1 year old, has seen good success and enthusiastic response from worldwide distributors and users alike.  New features have been added to the CueCore including a useful back-up function. This function allows users to make back-ups to save the contents of the CueCore into an XML file.

Please Visit us in Hall 11.0, Stand A69 Prolight+Sound 2012, Frankfurt, Germany or go to our Product Page for further information.
