VisualTouch now available on Mac OS X
Visual Productions have released a new version of the VisualTouch lighting software that runs on Apple’s Mac OS X.
With VisualTouch you can remotely trigger and operate lighting cues and various other functions of the VisualDMX and Canvix software lighting controllers. It allows for a user-friendly and foolproof control of the DMX-512 lighting installation, preventing the user from accidently erasing the programmed cues. Due to its network structure, multiple VisualTouch applications - even mixing Windows and Mac OS - can be used together.
VisualTouch is the first software application from Visual Productions to become available on a platform other than Windows. Director Maarten Engels says: “We started redesigning our complete software base two years ago to become platform independent. It underlines our continuous quest for developing the most user friendly lighting control software; instead of dictating one platform, we offer software versions to match the user’s favourite choice in operating systems. VisualTouch is released on the Mac first; future releases of our other software products will offer multiple platforms as well.”
Both Mac and Windows versions of VisualTouch can be downloaded free of charge from www.visualproductions.nl and will be demonstrated during the PLASA08 show in London at stand D8.

Visitors to the stand will be entering into a world of lighting control systems, with both software and hardware solutions available to suit their requirements.
To complement the VisualDMX lighting control software product we will be introducing the brand new series of DIN Rail articles, including GPI (General Purpose Input), GPO (General Purpose Output) and the DMX splitter. Alongside the new version of VisualTouch, touch screen user interface, these offerings make VisualDMX an ideal choice for installers and system integrators alike.
The newly available Frontier will be on display further demonstrating the commitment Visual Productions have taken towards designing products for fixed installations. This 19 inch rack mountable interface was specially designed for fixed installations that require a standalone replay unit for pre-programmed lighting sequences.
One year on from its launch during the last Prolight+Sound, Canvix dedicated matrix controller will be on our stand displaying a wide variety of new features. Visitors will see how this powerful lighting tool can enable them to quickly and easily programme numerous LED fixtures and creatively apply text, patterns and animations to their matrix façade.
Canvix will be running a matrix of multiple universes. In order to do this in the most efficient way it will be using the new Art-Net dongles now available from Visual Productions.
DIN Rail DMX Splitter
Visual Productions’ continued focus on supplying the ideal lighting control equipment for fixed installations has resulted in a new line of DIN Rail mounted control devices. The first device in this series to be released is the DIN Rail DMX Splitter.
The DIN Rail DMX Splitter provides 6 DMX ports and is designed with installers and system integrators in mind. The Splitter features a DIN Rail enclosure that allows easy mounting. All connections have detachable screw-connectors for a quick replacement of the unit.
The input port is protected through optical isolation, safe guarding the splitter/booster and its connected equipment against power surges and dangerous ground loops.

VisualDMX Frontier installed in U-Bar
Utrecht, NL: Earlier this year Visual Productions’ customer SLR Productions was approached by the U-Bar, a new club opening in Utrecht, to provide them with a creative yet practical sound and light system. The customer wanted his bar staff to have control of modern LED lighting creating a cool and trendy atmosphere in the underground venue coupled with fun party disco lights for on the dance floor.
Robert van Hees, owner of SLR, knew that he could easily satisfy his customers’ demands, but for SLR the most important issue would be smart lighting control. With a club whose opening hours are 22.00 till 4.00 Van Hees felt it important to insure that his customer have a fool proof system of control that couples low service requirement with creativity in lighting effects. For this reason Van Hees felt the best solution would be to use VisualDMX lighting control software triggered with the Frontier interface.
When Visual Productions provided the on-site programming of the Frontier, the U-Bar staff were so taken with the easy user interface and opportunities offered by VisualDMX that they chose to finalise the programming of the 16 presets themselves. Care was taken to insure that the customers request for contrast between the dance and seating areas was adhered to whilst also providing them with a broad enough spectrum that allows for their look to always be new, fresh and welcoming to their customers. Once the lights are programmed in VisualDMX and the sequences stored in the Frontier which the U-Bar staff can select and change the lighting states at will, enjoying this trouble free solution.
